An Ongoing Battle

The most current war between cryptographers and cryptanalysts, in my opinion, has to do with the internet. Computer scientists are constantly creating codes to protect websites and online customer's personal information. At the same time, thieves and crooks are breaking down this software and accessing top secret information which allows them to steal people's identities. It is an ongoing battle, and hopefully the brilliant minds of the good guys will prevail. Until then, be very careful of what you put online. You never know who's breaking through internet security and accessing "protected" information!

  1. The good guys have for the most part with protection but there are loop holes in the internet where hackers can find ways to pass viruses into computers and gather personal information. On a more upscale level such as the government the firewalls are blocked by miles of codes that have to be broken in order to view many files but then again there are top secret files that most people don't even know exist.

  2. It is things like this that make me skeptical of using websites. For example online banking can be done through the internet. This is extremely convenient for many. However, what would happen if a single person was able to hack into the banks system. They could steal numerous important pieces of information. We put a lot of faith in systems that we dont know much about and this could cause a lot of chaos in our lives if anything were to go wrong. I hope that nothing ever happens to me online!
